The Division of Inclusive Excellence at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is proud to offer the Constructive and Inclusive Dialogue Champion initiative, a comprehensive program aimed at equipping staff, faculty, and administrators with the skills necessary to facilitate meaningful, inclusive conversations that foster belonging and mutual respect.

Take part

Participants in Constructive and Inclusive Dialogue workshops will develop the essential skills to lead respectful and inclusive conversations across differences. They will gain an understanding of the value of diverse perspectives and learn strategies to engage in meaningful dialogues that embrace all voices. Throughout the workshop, participants will also develop an awareness of their personal communication habits and enhance their ability to foster more impactful, inclusive conversations.

Additionally, participants will learn how to ask powerful, open-ended questions that not only promote deeper understanding but also help to build a stronger, more cohesive community. These skills are crucial for those seeking to promote inclusivity and encourage constructive discussions within their professional environments.

Earn a Badge

By participating in the workshop, you will become eligible to earn the Constructive and Inclusive Dialogue Champion badge. Badge earners will be expected to take an active role in promoting dialogue across their departments, units, and the broader VCU campus. They will serve as role models for constructive communication, facilitating inclusive conversations that create an environment where every voice is heard, respected, and valued.
