Authentic living and holistic mentorship

This article profiles Sarah Raskin, Ph.D., a professor with the VCU L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs and a faculty mentor for undergraduate students involved in the iCubed Commonwealth Scholars Program.

“I think that for iCubed, it is essential that we mentor students in life skills as well as research skills,” shares Sarah Raskin, M.P.H., Ph.D. “While skill-building is certainly part of this mentorship process - it’s essential that we mentor students in areas of professionalization as well.”

Dr. Sarah Raskin joined Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in 2017 through her involvement in the Oral Health in Childhood and Adolescence transdisciplinary core with the Institute for Inclusion, Inquiry and Innovation (iCubed). She is an assistant professor with the VCU L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs and is a faculty mentor for undergraduate students involved in the iCubed Commonwealth Scholars Program.
