January 16, 2017

Beginning January 16, 2017, VCU celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a series of events including a silent candlelight vigil, MLK legacy night, community service activities, and more.
The MLK Celebration Week was established in 2014 to honor and raise awareness of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through VCU and Richmond community-wide educational programs that commemorate his distinguished contributions, leadership, spirit of service, and dedication to nonviolence and justice.  Week-long events include a silent candlelight vigil and march from Monroe Park to the VCU Compass, the MLK birthday celebration and service, campus climate discussion, MLK legacy night, community service events, movies and other activities, cumulating on January 22nd with the MLK Community Dinner.  View the full event schedule here:  MLK Celebration 2017.
