2017 VCU Latina/o Graduation Ceremony

Celebrate the VCU Latina/o Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Richmond Salons, University Student Commons with keynote speaker, Dr. G. Antonio Espinoza, VCU Department of History.  

This very special ceremony celebrates the achievement of Hispanic/Latino/a undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. candidates, and provides students with a positive and rewarding experience that recognizes their hard work, dedication, and perseverance.  Each graduate will receive a commemorative stole to symbolize their academic achievement.  Read more about this very special event and view the event program here: 2017 Latinix Graduation Ceremony.

2017 Donning of the Kente Ceremony at VCU

Everyone is invited to the Donning of the Kente Ceremony on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 5:00 pm in the Commonwealth Ballrooms, University Student Commons with keynote speaker, Samantha Willis, and traditional African dance performance by the Elegba Folklore Society.
 
The Donning of the Kente Ceremony celebrates the achievement of black undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. candidates. This ceremony provides students with a positive and rewarding experience that recognizes their hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Each graduate will receive a kente stole to symbolize their academic achievement.  Read more about this very special event.

Inclusive Excellence Launches Three New Initiatives

Virginia Commonwealth University’s Division for Inclusive Excellence is launching three new initiatives to engage the university community’s interests in social justice and inclusion.
 
The development of the new initiatives for students, faculty and staff are the VCU Student Social Justice Fund, the Equity and Inclusion Leadership Symposium, and the Curriculum Development Awards.  All are aimed at creating a more inclusive environment in the classrooms and within university programming.  Read more here.
